Social Problems in Grade 6

Social Problems

A social problem is a status that at small unusual people in a community view as being useless.Other social problems may be observed as such by some groups of people. Teenagers who play loud music in a public park obviously do not see it as a problem, but some other people may think it an unacceptable social condition. Some nonsmokers view smoking as an unwanted social condition that should be banned in public buildings.

Everyone would agree about some social problems, Some social problems prevailing in our country are;

  • Girl trafficking
  • Drug addiction

Girl trafficking

In our society girl trafficking is one of the serious social problems.Girls trafficking is literally defined as the buy and sell of girls illegally. It is a main social crime in Nepal. It has been increasing rapidly in remote areas where people are illiterate, simple and weak. Girls traffickers in Nepal are reported to sell the girls in India.It is said that about 5000 girls are sold every year to different cities of India.Brokers go to the remote areas act to be social workers, educator, leader,etc. They try to convince the uneducated people. Some young girl traffickers act to be single and propose the girls to get married. The innocent and simple people believe in their words. likewise, some girl traffickers attract the girls by acting that they would provide them good jobs in India. Then, they take the girls to India and sell them for the intent of hustling. If they reject it, they are badly punished and hurt. Girls trafficking is originally attributed to ignorance, lack of public awareness, uneducated, poverty, unemployment and involved material of smuggling and girls trafficking.

Drug addiction

Drug addiction is a problem that has been increasing among our society today.Many people especially teenagers have fallen into this habit.There is a direct/short and indirect/long pressure that might affect a person’s decision in using drugs. Direct pressure might be when a person is allowed to try drugs. long pressure might be when a person is around people using drugs and sees that there is nothing wrong with using drugs.There are also some other reasons why people might turn to using drugs. Emotional pain, such as personal or family problems, having low self-confidence, like losing a close one, losing a job, bad partners or having no friends, and environmental fear is all possible factors to causing one to use drugs.It is very difficult to rid of it when one becomes addicted to this habit.It is very expensive.When addicts do not get money to buy drugs,they get involved in illegal activities like;robbery,murder, theft etc.They started to spend money unnecessarily which becomes the burden for their parents, it is also the symptom of the social problem.

similarly, we can see the many people who take alcohol regularly and start to quarrel unnecessarily with others when they are drunk.Such kind of people destroyed their health,life,peace of family and society.We should stay far from such habits. So, while making friend we need to be careful.We should not trust anyone,should not be lured by anyone, should not trust strangers easily and should not taste any intoxicating items. And most important thing is we should stay far from bad company.
