Introduction to Our Economic Activities

The activities which are done to earn income or money is known as economic activities. Economic activities may be different from person to person as some may involve in farming, the other may involve in industry, business, trade, agriculture and so on. All these activities are the main source of income of our country.

We live in a society with our family but our family can not run without income or money. The family depends on upon income, it will be difficult to manage the family without income but if the family has the strong economic condition then a family can fulfill their needs and desires easily. The economic condition of a family is also determined by the country because when the country is developed than the economic condition of a family will be strong and when underdeveloped then there is a weak economic condition of a family.In the context of our country, there are four main types of economic activities from which people run their life and family. Most of the people of our country are involved in agriculture.

The four type of economic activities is given below:

1. Agriculture
2. Animal Husbandry
3. Industry
4. Trade

Agriculture

The process of producing foods, vegetable, crops by cultivating land is known as agriculture. Nepal is an agricultural country so the main occupation of the people living in Nepal is agriculture. Nepalese people produce various crops and vegetable to run their life, which also helps in the economic condition of the nation. People use traditional method for agriculture although there are the modern method and technology for agriculture, so the agriculture production of Nepal is low. Nepalese people grow crops like maize, wheat, barley, buckwheat, etc.

Animal Husbandry

Cattle rearing and animal husbandry is also another important economic activities of Nepal. Mostly people living in a mountain region involve in animal husbandry and cattle rearing which is their main occupation. People rear cow, buffalo, sheep, ox, donkey, etc. and use them as means of transport. People get milk, meat, fur ghee, etc. from those aminals and used them in their daily life and also as income generating source.

Industry

The industry is another important economic activities of a people in Nepal. Producing different goods and products by using a large number of volume, human resources, labor, technology, and a raw material is known as an industry. It helps to decrease the unemployment from the country because it provides employment opportunities for the people. Although it is very important in the context of Nepal but we are very slow in the industrial development. Some of the industries of Nepal are Pottery, furniture,industry, oil industry, and other small, cottage and large industry. like sugar, jute , textile, noodles, shoes, etc. The tourism industry is the best industry in the context of Nepal because every year more than lakhs tourists come to visit.They come to Nepal for various adventurous activities like trekking, rafting, mountaineering, bungee jumping etc.

Trade

Trade and business are also important economic activities of the people living in Nepal. Nepalese people involve in domestic and international trade. The main trade of Nepal is supplying various medicinal herbs, shrubs, and pashmina. Every year millions of people go foreign countries for employment. They earn foreign currency and send it in Nepal as remittance from which many families are running their livelihood. So, it is also an economic activity of Nepal.
