Introduction of Population

The total number of people living in a particular area in a particular time is known as the population. It is a summation of all the living organisms of the same group or species which live in a particular area.It includes the demographic and social characteristics like reproduction, sex, caste etc.

Our country Nepal is a small country. But the population of our country is increasing faster or it is growing rapidly. According to the census of 2011 AD, the population growth rate of Nepal is 1.35%. The people living in all 75 districts of Nepal was 2,64,94,504, according to the census report of 2011 AD. The size of thepopulation is not same in different districts. The number of the people is different in the different area. The procedure of systematical counting of the population or number of people is known as the census. In our country, Nepal, the census is taken is every 10 years.

In Nepal, the first census was taken in 1911 AD (2068 BS). According to the census of 2058 BS, the population of the Nepal was 23,151,423(23 million 151 thousand 423) in which 11,563,921 were male and 11,587,502 were female and according to the census of 2068 BS, the population of Nepal was 26,494,505 in which 12,849,041 (48.5%) were the male population and 13,645,463 (51.50%) were female population. According the census of 2011 AD, Central Development Region has the highest number of population . This all proves that population distribution of Nepal is not the same in all the parts of the country.

Importance of Population

The size of the population is always changing in response to fertility, mortality, and migration. The actual size of the population can be explained on the basis of the particular place and in a particular time. The population is one of the important factors which helps to balance the environment, the population should in a balance with the means and resources. If the population will be balanced, then all the needs and demand of the people can be easily fulfilled, which helps to preserve the environment of the country.
