Our National Pride

National Flag

Every country has its own national flag. A national flag symbolizes a country. Our national flag is unique in the world. It has two triangles joining together. The blue border in the National Flag of Nepal is the symbol of peace. The red is the color of the Rhododendron- Nepal's National flower. The crescent moon represents the Royal House, and the Sun is the symbol of the Rana family of Nepal. The meaning of sun and moon is that Nepal will exist until the sun and moon remain in the universe. Similarly, the sun represents the fierce tenacity of the Nepalese people and the heat of the lower parts of Nepal. The moon represents the serenity of the Nepalese people and the shade and cool weather in the Himalayas. Our national flag reflects our history, culture, and religion.

National Song

Every country has its own national song. The National song makes the citizen feel proud and responsible towards their country. The National song is sung at the beginning of the celebration of national days. It is also sung in the assembly of the school, every day. “Sayaun Thunga Phool Ka Hami" is the national song of our country, Nepal. The music has been composed by Ambar Gurung. We have to stand up from our seat in a disciplined way to pay respect to the nation and national anthem. The national anthem praises Nepalese sovereignty, unity, courage, pride and progress. It helps to maintain peace. It also leads to the cultural, biological diversity and respect.

Sagarmatha

Mountain Sagarmatha is the highest peak of the world. Everest lies on the border of Nepal and Tibet. It's height is 8,848 meters. The meaning of the Mount Everest "Sagarmatha" is also known as “Forehead in the Sky”. Edmund Hillary and a Nepalese Tenzing Norge Sherpa reached the Everest Summit for the very first time. Nepal is recognized as the country of the Sagarmatha in the world. Junko Tabe is the first lady in the world who climbed Mount Everest. She is from Japan and Pasang Lamu Sherpa is the first Nepali women climbed Mt.Everest. It is the pride of our country.

Lumbini

Lumbini is the birth place of Gautam Buddha. In 249 B.C. Emperor Asoka visited Lumbini and erected the inscribed stone pillar marking the birthplace of the Buddha. Gautam Buddha is recognized as the "Light of the Asia". Lumbini is located in the Rupandehi district of southern Nepal. It is recognized as a pilgrimage of all the people of the world who follow Buddhism. The most important at Lumbini is the Maya Devi Temple. The Maya Devi Temple is surrounded by the brick foundations of ancient temples and monasteries. It is the pride of our country. So, the protection and management of the property of Lumbini is very important. It is necessary to control the impact of visitors, and natural impacts including humidity and the industrial development in the region.

Laliguras (Rhododendron)

Laliguras is the national flower of Nepal. It is found in the high hills and Himalaya region of Nepal. It is the identity of our country. It is also known as Rhododendron in English. Rhododendron is also a source of traditional medicine. The powder of the flowers mixed with rice helps to cure dysentery. The paste from the leaves applied to the forehead is the treatment of headaches. Similarly, an extract of the bark is used to cure coughs, diarrhea, and dysentery. It is the pride of our country.

Danphe (Lophophorus)

Danphe is the national bird of our country. It is found in rocky, grass covered meadows and winters and mixed forests. The males are adorned with beautiful metallic colors of green, purple, red and blue features. The females are much duller than the male. Hens also have the blue patch around the eyes. It has nine colors. So, it is also called the "naurangi danphe".

Coat of Arms (Nishan Chhap)

Coat of arms is used in the government office. It also gives the identity to our country. The National coat arms is a symbol which denotes an independent state. After the political change of 2063 BS, a new coat of arms has been practiced in Nepal. A male and a female shaking hand in the picture represents the gender equality. It represents all special features like a National flag, National flower, the highest mountain in the world 'Sagarmatha' and three ecological regions of Nepal: Mountain, Hill, and Terai. The written word "Janani janmabhoomi swargadapi gariyasi' means mother and motherland are greater than the heaven.
