Importance Of SAARC For Nepal

SAARC has tried to quicken the economic growth, social progress and other development among the member countries since its establishment. So, SAARC has played the significant role to promote cooperation among its member countries. One of the main objectives of SAARC is to develop the welfare and to improve the quality of life of the people in this region.

SAARC has been distributing economic and technical support and assistance to the member countries. There are different criteria's of united action and cooperation of SAARC such as agriculture and rural development, prevention of drug trafficking,promotion of tourism, women empowerment, promotion of education and sports, development of transport and communication, etc. All these mentioned are the common problems which are being faced by the member of SAARC countries.

SAARC has played the very important role for the promotion of Nepal because Nepal is receiving the various aids from SAARC. The SAARC secretariat is established in Nepal. The SAARC Tuberculosis Centre was established in Nepal in 1992 AD. It has helped to control over the Tuberculosis. The SAARC Audio Visual Exchange(SAVE ) television programme is transmitted on the first day of every month. This programme has helped to make people familiar with the problems faced in this region. For the educational promotion of this region, the SAARC fellowship and scholarship schemes have been launched. It has started the SAARC Youth Volunteers Programmes (SVYP) to utilize the fresh manpower that is youths in the development process. These programmes have played the magnificent role to promote the contact among the people in this region. In the same way, South Asian Games (SAG) has helped to develop sports in this region which has helped to make the good relationship among the member countries of SAARC through sports.

SAARC amends the budget every year. Every member country receives assistance from this budget. SAARC is helped by different countries and organizations such as Japan, Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), UNICEF, UNDP, European Union, etc. This help and assistance are used to promote the social and economic progress of the member countries of SAARC.

Nepal is getting help by SAARC to conduct programmes like poverty eradication, trade, exchange of audio and visual aids the conference of SAARC youth. SAARC secretariat is also helping schools by providing books and other materials which are necessary for teaching. Therefore SAARC is an important organization for developing countries like Nepal.
