Introduction and Importance of Population Management

The number of people living in a particular area in a particular time is known as a population. In simple word, population means the number of people living in a certain place in a country in a certain time. There are mainly three factors that bringchange in both population and environment. The three factors are affecting population are Birth ,Death, and Migration. We have seen many things around us that may be living things or non-living things. We all know that all the human beings need food to eat, water to drink and many other elements in order to survive. They canonly get those elements from natural resources. We know the natural resources are very few in number. We cannot increase the number of natural resources as they appear naturally and are the gift of nature. So, due to this reason we have to balance the relationship between both natural resources and population. If the number of people will be less then, we can use more natural resources. But if the number of people increases then there will be less natural resources. In many countries of the world such as Japan, Europe, etc., there is less number of people. But the number of people is very much or increasing day by day in our country, Nepal. So, to balance the population and environment, we all have to decrease the number of people.

Importance of Population Management

We have to balance the population to improve the quality of life. The size and growth of population should be a balanced according to themeans and resources which we get or which are available in our country.

Following are some importance of population management:

  1. To make balance in the environment
  2. To achieve economic development
  3. To fulfill the basic needs

To make balance in the environment
If there will be less number of people in the country then there will be balance on both environment and population. It can be made by population management. The number of growth must be controlled.

To achieve economic development
The size of the population can be made according to the need and demand of a country which help to the economic development of the country.

To fulfill the basic needs
The management of the population helps to fulfill the basic needs of the people like food, shelter, health, clothing and some other facilities which we can get from the natural resources. So, the population management programs should be conducted in order to control the population growth rate as well as to balance the population.
