Social Discrimination in Grade 6

Social Discrimination

The unequal manner of persons, for a purpose which has nothing to do with legal rights or powers or the practice of unreasonably treating a person or group of people differently from other people or groups of people, is known as a discrimination . As we know that, in our society:

There are several types of discrimination some of them are given below:

  1. Gender discrimination
  2. Caste discrimination
  3. Gender violence etc.

Gender discrimination

Discriminating people on the basis of male, female and third gender is called gender discrimination.Gender inequality, or in other words, gender discrimination refers to unfair rights between male and female based on separate gender roles which point to the unequal manner in life.Regarding the reasons and the issue of gender difference, it can be seen that Asia would be the place where gender discernment has seemed to be a "tradition".In our society, not having a son meant to be disrespectful towards the ancestor. Going on with this mistaken conception, women are more likely to lose the role in a community. Here, the third gender means that just nature has made them differently but they can do the work same like other. In our society male are given more priority than female. Our society uses to dominate a female in every sector. We should not dominate to anyone we have to give an equal respect to all of them. caste discrimination

Caste discrimination

The traditional hierarchy places;Brahmins (priests and teachers) at the top, followed byChetris (rulers and soldiers) and Vaisyas(merchants and traders). Dalits or “untouchables” (laborers, cobblers, and manual scavengers)occupy the lowest position within the caste hierarchy.Similarly, discriminating people on the basis of caste is called untouchability. In our society, low caste is not allowed

to enter into a temple, and not allowed to go to tap.Our societies even do not enter the lowest caste people into their house. They are treated like animals. The low of our country should punishable to the discriminating people on the basis of caste, gender, etc. There is the provision in our constitution regarding right to equality and right against untouchability and radical discrimination. It may take time but this provision of our constitution should be implemented effectively. Every individual and society should be alert and aware of it.

Gender violence

It includes rape, sexual crime, relationship violence in heterosexual and physical harassment, stalking, prostitution and sex trafficking.Gender is also the most powerful predictor of rape, sexual rape, and relationship violence. These violations are predominantly against women and perpetrated by men. According to the National Violence Against Women Survey (1998), 15% of women will be the victim of a completed rape in their lifetime and 2.1% of men. According to the Department of law, 99% of all people caught for rape are men. While some men are rape victims, men are almost always the perpetrator.

  • Promote change. Change your mind and see what happens. Start with yourself and it is easier to ask others to change.
  • Especially in rural areas,in this topic awareness programmes should be created throughout the country.
  • Street drama, programmes can be done in road, ruler areas, schools and articles can be published in popular newspapers.
  • The legal provisions against such violence and discriminations should well be known by everyone.
  • Poster and a hoarding board can be pasted in the public places to aware and sensitize the common people.
