Problems of Population Management

The population is defined as the total number of people living in a certain area in a certain time. The population is always changeable. Sometimes population increases and sometimes it decreases. The population of our country is rapidly growing day by day. It is very important to control the increasing population. In order to control the population, various programs are to be launched.

There are some major problems on population management. Some of them are described below:

  1. Unplanned migration
  2. Gender inequality
  3. Less literacy rate of women
  4. Early marriage

Unplanned migration
The movement of people from one place to another or from one country to another country is known as migration. In our country Nepal, a large number of people move from one place to another place for good facilities, education, employment, food, security etc. In the context of our country, Nepal people migrate from rural areas to city areas or hilly region and mountains region to terai region. This type of unplanned migration become the great problem while managing the population.

Gender inequality
People prefer having a boy rather than a girl. Son or boy are given more priority the daughter or girl in our country .In willing of giving birth to a son, many children are born. This is also one of the major problem population growth.Due to giving less important to the daughter, the girl is being backward for all the facilities like health, clothing, and education etc.

Less literacy rate of women
Due to gender inequality, girls are given less importance. According to the census 2068 BS, only 45.2% women of our country were literate. It is determined that in a family if a mother is educated then her children and family will be more educated and healthy.

Early marriage
The marriage which is done in early age is known as early marriage. According to the civil code of Nepal, a girl cannot marry before 18 years. But in most of the part our country, the girls gets married at an early age which proves that the civil code is not been followed. Early marriage can cause more birth rate. People do marry at the age of 15 or 16 and they give birth to 4 or 5 babies which can be the major problem for population management of Nepal.
