The Patan Academy of Health Sciences is a public, not-for-profit university that specializes on teaching health workers for rural Nepal in order to enhance the country's rural health.

In addition to providing much needed medical care in rural Nepal, PAHS hopes that its graduates will go on to spearhead health care policy initiatives aimed at enhancing the well-being of the country's impoverished and isolated citizens. Moreover, PAHS will function as an innovative medical education model in a developing nation that can be duplicated globally.

The offered programs are Proficiency Certificate Level Nursing (PCL Nursing), Bachelors in Nursing (BN), Bachelor in Nursing (BNS),  Master in Nursing (MN).

Under BNS:

  • Community Health Nursing Major
  • Psychiatric Nursing Major
  • Pediatric Nursing Major

Under MN:

  • Women’s Health Development
  • Adult Health Nursing
  • Child Health Nursing
  • Community Health Nursing
  • Psychiatric Nursing

In the year 2017, PAHS started in Maters Program in Public Health (MPH) under School of Public Health (SoPH).

PAHS is located in the city of Patan, Nepal, which is adjacent to the capital city of Kathmandu. PAHS is based at Patan Hospital, which is the major teaching hospital for the academy.

One of the component campuses of Patan Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS) is the School of Nursing & Midwifery (Lalitpur Nursing Campus) (LNC). The United Mission to Nepal (UMN) founded the campus in 1959. The campus was founded with the intention of providing nursing education to Nepalese people.
