Charles Sturt University's history began in 1895 when the Bathurst Experiment Farm was founded. The Charles Sturt University Act 1989 (Act No. 76, 1989) brought together a number of previously operating, independently controlled Colleges of Advanced Education to form the university, which took effect on July 1, 1989.
We are a deeply connected university, working in partnership and collaboration with First Nations peoples, our communities and industries, government, and alumni to address the needs of the Northern Territory and regional, rural, and remote people nationally and globally.
