The International American University (IAU) was founded by individuals who saw the expansion of private schools and universities during the 1990s and 2000s. As working students themselves, they came to understand the critical role private universities played in preparing the sophisticated, working student—also referred to as the "professional student." What would set IAU apart from the other distance-learning institutions that have been established since the 1990s? The founders asked themselves this question and ultimately came up with a response.
The goal was to establish a school that would support an inclusive community, provide top-notch student services, hire and retain experienced teachers, provide the same level of academic rigor as a larger institution, and offer flexible class schedules. To bring the organization into compliance with the Christian ideals and values of its founders, the challenge was to keep costs reasonably affordable to make education available to all. It Provides career development through various career services, which include professional development workshops, internships, and on-campus employment opportunities.
