The University of Westminister Located in London, United Kingdom, the institution of Westminster is a public institution. It was the first polytechnic to open in London, having been founded as the Royal Polytechnic Institution in 1838.[3] In August 1839, the Polytechnic was formally granted a royal charter; in 1992, it changed its name to the University of Westminster.
Westminster includes campuses in Fitzrovia, Marylebone, and Harrow in addition to its main campus on Regent Street in downtown London. Additionally, it runs Tashkent, Uzbekistan's Westminster International University.
There are about 65 departments and centers spread among the university's three colleges and twelve schools, including the Center for the Study of Democracy and the Communication and Media Research Institute (CAMRI).
