Four Levels of Third Thoughts

Four levels of Third Thoughts

1.Literal Comprehension:

This is the story of narrator's friend; a small businessman, who buys a painting done by turner at very low price, but when found about its originality, sells it for 50 pounds and decides to share the profit to the seller from whom he bought the painting. First he decides to share 50% of the profit with the delear, as he was the one with the original painting but having no stamp he fails to send the letter he wrote to that dealer. Giving a second thought about sharing the profit, he then decides to share 10 pounds instead and again drops it to 5 pounds thinking that 10 pounds would be too much for a share. At the end he finally decides to share only 1 pound and separating that only pound, he spends all other pounds in casino and looses all of them. Finally, he thinks that after buying anything there is no relation between the seller and buyer. Business is a straightforward thing.

2. Interpretation:

This story shows the changing nature of human mind, their thoughts and unstable decisions. The story teaches about the relationship between buyer and seller and states that there is no further ongoing relation between them once the trade is done.

3. Critical Thinking:

- How can someone really think of sharing half the profit while in business?

- How can a seller donot know about the price of the products he has with him?

4. Assimilation:

This incident reminds me of the real life incident that happened with my brother. He obtained grade F in his exam. He then decided to study for 10 hours a day. Then he thought he can't do that and reduced the study time to 5 hours. Similary he never studied as he thought. And he again failed his terminal.
