Four Levels of The Burden of Skepticism

Four Levels of Burden of Skepticism

1. Literal Comprehension:

It is an essay by Carl Sagan where the writer has emphasized us to be skeptical to separate what is wrong and what is right. Skepticism is doubting someone's thoughts and ideas. The writer presents example of buying a seconf-hand car where we donot become skeptic if we dont know any information about it. Similarly, skepticism is also not good in every field like in medical field and scientific field since they are related to human and social factors.

2. Interpretation:

This essay tries to aware people about the pros and cons of being a skeptic. The writer through his essay tries to tell us that we must be skeptical only in a critical situation.

3. Critical Thinking:

After reading the essay, i have some questionable aspects:

- How is the writer so sure about no existence of God?

- Should we be skeptical at every thing? Won't it be easier to find a solution to a problem without keeping doubts on it?

4. Assimilation:

After reading the essay i learnt much about skepticism and about skeptics. I am convinced by the fact that we should be skeptic. However, i still believe on trusting the things how they exist originally. Like, a second hand car will sure be less performing , why should i have a doubt on it ?
