Conflict

A Conflict is the misunderstanding or disagreement between two parties. it is a situation in which people perceive a threat to physical, emotional, power, status, etc. to their well-being.

Sometimes, people are surprised by being a party to the conflict, while other times we are shocked to learn we are not included in the disagreement. On many occasions, people who are seen as part of the social system e.g., work team, family, the company are influenced to participate in the dispute of conflict. If we can understand the true areas of disagreement, this will help us solve the right problems and manage the true needs of the parties.

Conflict reconciliation is the methods and processes of facilitating the peaceful ending of conflict and retribution.The field of conflict resolution also includes the proper discussion between the parties and help young people develop communication and problem-solving skills.

To know more about the conflict. 

Namsang and Numa were best friends. They lived in Dhankuta District of Dandabazar Village. In their village Dandabazar, there was the scarcity of water, the people had to go far away to bring a water. There was a tap near a village, but the water used to come only for two hours a day. There were many people gathered there to fill the bucket. Namsang's and Numa's mother also used to go there for the water. People had to stay in the line. One day Numa's mother crosstalk Namsang's mother line, So they started to quarrel.

Namsang’s mother hit Numa’s mother with the bucket. They both beat each other. The situation went out of the expectation, they fought once very badly. Namsang's mother one earrings was lost and Numa's mother got her one hand broken. The relationship of two villagers dimmed and became very cold. The situation was about to go out of control. The other women tried to separate them from the fight. But, they could not. They invited the member of parliament Sushma Yakha – VDC chair person. Namsang and Numa stopped to talk each other. The next day, on their initiation, there held a meeting between these two women. At, first they did not want to attain the meeting. Both parties were made understand clearly about why all villagers need water. The problem was not between the two women, its about all the villagers who needs water. So, the water should be provided to the villagers . The Chairperson also understood that the problem . She said that they were launching the programmes to bring the water through the pipeline. Finally, they also understood that they should join the meeting to get the benefit for the village. The cloudy and dimmed relation gradually improved. They both started talking and starting working together. Namsang and Numa also started talking and going to school, together. They realized the cost of humanity and responsibilities.

Characteristics of Conflict

  • Interpersonal conflict requires at least two people. Conflict is the state of tension and struggle.
  • Conflict involves some sense of struggle or incompatibility or perceived difference among values, goals, or desires.
  • Action, whether overt or covert, is key to interpersonal conflict.
  • When people argue without caring about what happens next or without a sense of involvement and struggle, it probably just the disagreement.
  • Conflicts can be resolved positively and negatively.
  • Conflict should be taken as a challenge.
  • Conflict has started along with human civilization and continues till its existence.
