An informal letter writing also referred to as a friendly letter, is a personal letter written to friends or relatives. It is written in a personal manner. Informal letters are written to close acquaintances of the writer, their friends, family, relatives, etc.
Since they are written to close relations the letters have an informal and personal tone. We can write it to anyone with whom you don't have a professional relationship, although this doesn't exclude business partners or office workers whom you're friendly with either.
