Norms and Values of Different Religions

Different species such as birds, animals, humans, etc. are the gift of nature. Among these humans are taken as superior because of their capacity to learn, think, and be knowledgeable enough to recognize things. There are several creations of nature who live either on land, in water and each creature has its own group too. But human is the only creature who is able to form a civilized society. And such a society seemingly is composed of different races, religions, and cultures. And human only has the ability to follow religion among all the creatures of nature.

Means of religion differ from place to place and from person to person. Not every individual follows the same religion. There are various forms of religion worldwide. The meaning of religion may differ from the group of people to that of others but the common aim of each religion is the same and that is the sound health of all, prosperity, security, and safety of mankind. Every religion tends to aid each member of society. No religion is followed with the view of partiality.

Each religion aims at the betterment of each and every and focuses on the welfare of mankind. As per the similar motive of all religion there are many common norms and values of different religion which are listed below :-

Good Behaviour

All religion appeal for a good character and behaviour. Good behaviour is most desired value of all the religions. If a person is good not only by his/her looks but also from his attitude, behaviour then he/she can make their society too civilized and active. Treating all in a well-mannered form, responding all in the very polite way and helping others are general aspects of human through which one could maintain his/her good character and this directly influences own religion. If one member of religion possesses good character then he/she could lead others to bear the same. Activities like theft, quarrelling, several kinds of addiction, injustice, misuse of wealth all falls under bad habits hence in order to maintain good character one should give up all these bad habits and quit all the bad habits and take another turn towards morality, politeness, telling truth, respecting seniors and loving juniours emphasizes on uplifting the value of own religion.

Buddha

The sense of assisting other could be justified by the attitude of great Buddha named to be “Siddhartha” in an early age where Siddhartha cured an injured duck which was shot with an arrow by Devdutta, the son of Siddhartha’s uncle. Siddhartha was on garden looking at the sky when Devdutta shot an arrow on a duck. When it was shot it fell on the ground near to Siddhartha, Siddhartha with no wasting time picked it up locked away its arrow and washed its blood by the nearby pond, dried it up and applied the juice of medicinal herbs over the injured area. After seeing all these Devdutta asked Siddhartha to handle the duck back to him but Siddhartha refused to do so. When arguments result not any common agreement dey both went to King Shuddhodhana.

After listening both, Shuddhodhana asked Siddhartha “Son, why don’t you give duck to tour brother, he first shot an arrow on duck, and secondly you got it in your hands so better you should handle it to Devdutta. Then, Siddhartha replied in a very polite form,” Father, I am ready to offer duck to Devdutta if he agrees to dismiss his right at the moment. I agree the duck was shot by him but tell me a father who gave him the right to throw the arrow against the bird which was flying independently, it could have died but it's alive now so it belongs to me and it's me who should have authority over it. After completing his sentence everyone was impressed with his views hence other people by the side claimed Siddhartha was absolutely right and opposes the king to support the claim of the Siddharth. They told, “authority of rescuer is higher than that of the killer”. So. The duck should belong to Siddhartha. With proper care of Siddhartha towards the injured duck, it recovered soon and flew back to the sky. The great deed of Siddhartha enables others too to raise helpful hands for other.

All religion believes in great deed of one when he/she offers helpful hands to help and its great virtue to help weak and helpless. Hence, helping to helpless is one of the greatest essences of all religions.

Simple Living, High Thinking

Every person wants to live a very comfortable life but comfortable life always does not mean living a very luxurious life. With a pattern of living a normal life, one could aid in a standard way of living. We must avoid our stylish taste in our lifestyle. We human tend to have an excessive portion of desires hence one should care about controlling own desire and making desires very limited. We should learn to keep patience and to be satisfied in what we have without worrying about the things we lack. Eating simple and healthy food and living a very simple life could possibly make us happy so we should pay attention towards health and cleanliness rather than paying attention towards materialistic things. Anger are main demerits of human life this could ruin the person’s life so one should be attentive enough to give up all his anger and should enjoy very peaceful and calm livelihood. Life could be made easier not through luxurious items but with the proper aim and objectives in life. A clear picture about particular aim could motivate us to work in the more effective way and this planned thinking could aid us in making life more easy and wonderful. All religion points at living a very comfortable life with fewer complications and thinking about the possible ways in a planned manner. These are the common ideology of all religions.

Forgiveness

Forgiveness is highly emphasized by all the religion. Forgiving the one and giving him/her chance for correcting own is highly carried out in almost every religions. Gautam Buddha the legend for all is one of the examples of forgiveness. During ancient time when one one person among hundred distrusted his well-being and scolded Buddha through use of various harsh words Buddha just smiled at him he neither opposes him nor scolded him back he just remain silent when other followers asked him the reason behind his smile he replied when he will realize his deed he will come back as told same person apologizes for his wrong deeds. As Buddha showed all the path of patience where forgiveness is meant to be held all the religion apply the common belief of forgiveness

Another example for forgiveness is Mahatma Gandhi who is referred as the national hero of his country and co-proper legend for all the people. His willingness, love, and respect for the nation finally made India an independent country. His long-term fight for the nation finally made his country free from British. During English rule, the whole country went through the severe torture but despite the suffering he and his people faced Gandhi never took the feeling of revenge, he forgave them all and his works and efforts even too were for all, regarding an opponent.

In1908, January Mir Alam conspired against Gandhi and one day when Gandhi won on his way for some work , Mir Alam started to beat Gandhi, Gandhi fell on the ground with a huge scream and he was unconscious. He broke his teeth and got injured in lips and chain and another hand Mir Alam got arrested. Gandhi was taken to a safe room and when he returned to consciousness his first question was “ where is Mir Alam”? when other replied they were arrested, Gandhi immediately wrote letter assigning Attorney General to release them because he does not want to file any case against them. Anyways they were accused in prison for a couple of months after being released from prison Mir Alam apologizes for his activity with Gandhi but Gandhi held his hands with affection and asked him not to feel sorry for anything. Gandhi was a great personality with having greatest quality of forgiveness that make the nation, India independent.

Having patience and forgiving other is the fundamental values of all religions. One should increase the ability to forgive others. Forgiveness is only the way to bring all with the same perspectives and this helps to form a healthy group of people. The feeling of anger and feeling of revenge knowingly ruins the relationship but it also harms own and no religion would agree to tolerate the loss of life and dispute among the people that hinders systems of religion.

Every religion has significance in its own place not everyone follows the same belief as per the religion hence, fight in the name of religion is usually worthless. The common norms and values of all religions focus on improving the living standard of all by making life easier and prosperous. Bad practices in the name of religion are needed to be abolished and safe practices should be placed. Hence, all religions have access to common norms and values that contribute to the well-being of mankind.

Importance of Religion:

The fundamental set of beliefs involving religious and ritual observances is meant by religion. Religion is a supreme force that guides each to step upon the right path. A faith made to enhance moral value and sense of right are human religion. All in the universe that exists is meant to in favor of a human. Hence, human religion has a significant role.

A person is very educated and knowledgeable but lacks to utilize his/her skills and knowledge in an appropriate field and fails to make the right decision then he might not be great with knowledge itself, only.

Religion is convinced with the ideology of truth and being moral. If a person lies and upholds no truth then he goes against rules, regulations, and obligations of religion. Religion is guided by morality. Hence, when violence takes place, there’s no place for religion.

Faith and Hope

Religion is the moral code that contains rules and regulations with its limitations. Religion is also the pre-disciplinary act that limits discipline and attitude. Religion always has been protecting us. It has been preserving our well-being and hence the importance of religion too is very great. Religion is the set of moral values that limits humans under certain obligations. Human needs are being limited and when such limitations are set, human usually keeps track in following moral values of life. Human makes no efforts to go out from that of the boundary of disciplines and hence proper attitude and human nature can be maintained in a proper way. Religion protects our existence so that our existence in the world is possible. Religion provides the world a privilege to manage rules, disciplines so that every human will be conscious about their limitations and responsibilities. It has to make the world peaceful, significant and well managed. Hence, religion carries huge importance in itself.

Religion always seeks the truth with no false evidence and lies. No existence of religion can be made on the surface of falsehood. Religion, in itself, is very superior. It is the moral body that leads a human life in a right path. All religions stand for the high importance of truth. Religion has the symbol of truth. With the support of religion, true facts can be stored out and no cheat can be made referring a lie. And this nature of the religion of advocating about truth has great importance.

Being true and speaking the truth is the essence of every religion. Every religion demands to be loyal towards truth. All the things we see, hear and we know are meant to be told in a clear format. We should explain it honestly with no sense of hiding anything. If the truth is bitter then it should be told in a polite way so that any person related to that case won’t be affected much. If the truth is harsh then the things are to be explained sweetly. Our norms and values have always taught us to be true, polite, and honest. In any case, if the truth is against the welfare of people then one should be aware of the way of revealing the truth and should be knowledgeable about the right time of telling the truth.

Religion focuses on a fair set of beliefs. It contradicts all sorts of violence. Religion is based upon truth, hence no means of immoral acts are carried under an ideology of religion. In this sense, religion helps to expand and extend the feeling of non-violence. Religion enables everyone to carry up ethnic values dominating the violence and enmity and enhancing the sense of being all in an equal level where no person is supposed to be biased. Religion compressed everyone within the boundary of humanity. It influences each to give up an attitude of non-violence and develop brotherhood regarding all human children of the same mother. We should regard all creatures as being ourselves. No creature is distinct from that of the other. Religion teaches us to respect the dignity of each creature and value their existence. In this way, every religion is a pre-known set of practices that stands for non-violence, humanity, equality, brotherhood, harmony, and so on.
