ABOUT CAMPUS

The Faculty of Science and Technology (FOST) was established in 1994 under the Purbanchal University. In 1996, it started a three-year Bachelor of Computer Application (B.C.A.) program in Biratnagar which was the pioneer program of Nepal but currently, FOST has offered four years of Bachelor Programs in IT and engineering and two years of Master programs based on credit hours and semester system.  FOST is going to provide master programs in Information Technology, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Agriculture and Veterinary in future. FOST is running its programmers through its three Constituents and twenty-four affiliated campuses in the country. 

Dean's Message

Welcome to the Faculty of Science and Technology. It is my great pleasure to serve as the Faculty Dean and be able to work with a team of academic and supporting staff who have a strong commitment to education and teaching to nurture a new generation of professionals. Our world is presently approaching a time of immense change. Societal change driven by advances in digital and ICT innovation continues at an accelerated pace and we are seeing seismic shifts that may very well overturn the foundations of our society. The development and retention of talent to oversee AI, IoT, Big Data and security technologies, as well as the data science that underpins these technologies, is now considered a matter of urgency as we move towards realizing the government’s policy and as such strong calls are being made for universities to boost education and human resource capabilities in information-related fields. 

Mission

• The mission of the FOST is to provide excellence in education, preparing leaders for a diverse, highly technological, information-based global society; and to engage in research and creative activities.
• To provide quality information Technology, engineering education and research in the frontier IT and engineering areas relevant primarily to the nation.
• Conduct an array of effective and useful programs recognizing the need for adequately qualified and capable professionals in various disciplines of Applied Science and Engineering.
• develop the institution into a Center of Excellence for Higher Education by enhancing teaching, learning and research activities.
• link the university system with community services

Vision

The vision of FOST is to be a premier IT, and engineering education institution at par with world-class role models. The FOST vision is to continue to achieve national and international recognition through the impact of alumni in three core areas: computer science, IT and Engineering.  Our vision includes our department being a collegial, collaborative and welcoming environment in which to learn and work and also to be a leader in preparing research-oriented scientists equipped with high-tech skills and profound ethical values.

Objectives

• To provide formal quality education in Science and Technology to prepare students for careers in these fields.
• To provide students with the opportunity for personal development to enable them to achieve their potential and to relate to other people engaged in the broad field of Computer Science, information technology and engineering.
• To promote and develop basic and applied research in the various science disciplines of the faculty and to establish national and international linkages;
• To develop appropriate technology and to promote the transfer of this technology through innovative projects;
• Develop skilled human resources in the areas of computer science, information technology, engineering, and vocational studies.
• Mobilize and utilize resources, national or International- with a view of introducing improvement in the quality and effectiveness of its academic programs.
