ABOUT CAMPUS

One of the Institute of Medicine's nine campuses is located in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, and is known as the Maharajgunj Medical Campus (MC). In the little more than two decades since it was upgraded from the Auxiliary Health Workers' School to the status of an IoM campus in 1972, Maharajgunj Medical Campus has played a significant role in conducting academic programs for the development of various categories of Human Resources for Health (HRH) in Nepal.

In its efforts to develop qualified and varied Human Resources for Health. HRH providing primary to tertiary healthcare in the nation, from primary health care providers to medical specialists. In the area of medical education in Nepal, MC has made great strides. It was made abundantly evident that providing medical education does require a teaching hospital for efficiently facilitating teaching-learning activities when Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) was established in 1983 close to the MC premises. With the founding of TUTH, MC officially became the First Medical School in Nepal. Since that time, MC has not only been in charge of delivering medical education but has also begun to offer tertiary healthcare to everyone visiting THTH. Here, the medical faculty served as both a medical specialist and a medical educator.
