Sutra Center for Development Education and Research is the program sponsor for Kadambari Memorial College, School of Social Work. A nonprofit organization called Sutra Center works to advance and create equitable societies by training professionals in human services.

It was established in 2005 and has it's affiliation to Purbanchal University. It is nonprofit organization.

Courses Offered

Program – Master in Social Work, (MSW)

With the 17th year of experience running an undergraduate program Bachelor of Social Work (BSW), and being involved in curriculum development and revision of Social Work program in Purbanchal University (PU), Kadambari Memorial College, Kathmandu has started Master of Social Work ( MSW), two-year full-time degree program from January 2023.

The available seats for the course is 33. Any graduate with 40% or CGPA 2.0 marks/ scores or equivalent to bachelor’s degree from recognized universities can apply for the MSW program . The applicant has to undergo a three-stage selection process: written exam, group interview and individual interview.

With the inaugural class of 2023, Kadambari hopes to develop cohorts of skilled social workers with specialized knowledge in social development, child, elder, and family care.

Program – Bachelors of Social Work, (BSW)

The entry level course to Social Work is designed to harness graduates with knowledge and competences of social work in local and global sector. The course curriculum is based on a framework of Foundation, Core, Applied and Practice. Each semester worth s15 credits and 1 credit consists of 16 lectures of 50 minutes. That means 3 credits subject will have 3×16 equivalents to 48 lectures with 1/3 of the classes allocated for tutorial classes.

In the eight semester, students conduct independent research in the area of their interest with close supervision of a faculty research guide. This students’ dissertation carries 8 credits weights of the 120 credits in total.
