Procurement is the process of sourcing and acquiring the goods and services that an organization needs to fulfill its business objectives.
Identifying Needs
Determining what goods or services are required. Conducting needs assessments, consulting with internal departments, and creating specifications.
Supplier Selection
Identifying and selecting suppliers who can provide the necessary goods or services. Researching potential suppliers, sending out requests for proposals (RFPs) or requests for quotations (RFQs), and evaluating bids.
Contract Negotiation
Negotiating the terms and conditions of the supply agreement. Discussing price, delivery schedules, payment terms, and other contractual details.
Purchase Order Issuance
Officially placing the order with the selected supplier. Creating and sending a purchase order (PO) detailing the products or services, quantities, and agreed terms.
Order Fulfillment
Receiving and inspecting the ordered goods or services. Coordinating delivery logistics, inspecting goods for quality and quantity, and addressing any discrepancies.
Payment
Processing payment to the supplier as per the agreed terms. Verifying invoices against purchase orders and receiving reports, and making payments.
Record Keeping and Evaluation
Maintaining records of procurement activities and evaluating supplier performance. Documenting transactions, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), and conducting performance reviews.
Supply Chain Management includes the planning and execution of all activities related to sourcing, procurement, conversion, and logistics management. It also entails coordination and cooperation with channel partners such as suppliers, middlemen, third-party service providers, and customers.

The process of transforming raw materials into finished goods. Production scheduling, quality control, and production process management.
Logistics
Managing the flow of goods from suppliers to customers. Transportation, warehousing, order fulfillment, and distribution management.
Returns
Handling returns of defective, damaged, or unwanted products. Reverse logistics, return policies, and refurbishing or recycling goods.
Integration
Coordinating and integrating all supply chain activities into a seamless process. Collaboration with suppliers and customers, use of technology and information systems, and continuous improvement.

Effective procurement ensures that necessary goods and services are obtained at the greatest possible cost and quality, whilst efficient supply chain management guarantees that these goods and services are delivered to clients on time and within budget.
