In Nepal, a degree in engineering is among the most valued and sought-after. Thousands of students who have passed the +2 Levels or an equivalent test join in engineering colleges each year. The component and affiliated universities of Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu University, Pokhara University, Purbanchal University, Mid-Western University, and Far-Western University are the engineering colleges in Nepal.Over fifty colleges in Nepal provide four-year or eight-semester engineering bachelor's degrees.

ELIGIBILITY 

The entrance exam is open to students who have earned a minimum of 45% or a "C" mark in each of the physical group or biological group with two math paper subjects from their 10+2 education, or 45% in their engineering diploma program or a course that is equivalent. Only physical groups or students who have completed two mathematics papers are eligible to enroll in IOE; in other universities, enrollment in mathematics is not required.

1. IOE, Pulchowk Campus

The main campus of the Institute of Engineering is located at Pulchowk. Located at Pulchowk in the center of Lalitpur city, it was founded in 1972 (2029 B.S.) as one of the Institute of Engineering's constituent campuses. It was first established to produce trade-level labor in order to meet the country's engineering needs.

Since 1973 (2030 B.S.), the Pulchowk campus has offered diploma level (intermediate level, three years) courses in a variety of engineering specialties; however, diploma level courses are currently being phased out.Since 1984, the Pulchowk campus has provided bachelor's degree programs in a variety of engineering specialties (2041 B.S.).

2. IOE, Thapathali Campus

The B.S. Technical Training Institute (TTI) was renamed as the Institute of Engineering, Thapathali Campus in 2029 and became a campus of Tribhuvan University (T.U.). In 2043 B.S., the campus began offering diplomas in mechanical engineering and car engineering. Later, in 2058 B.S., the campus offered diplomas in computer engineering and electronics engineering.

The Institute of Engineering (IOE) policy states that the campus stopped accepting new students for any diploma programs starting in 2070 B.S. and instead introduced the Bachelor in Industrial Engineering in 2062 B.S., the Bachelor in Civil Engineering in 2066 B.S., the Bachelor in Electronics and Communication Engineering in 2067 B.S., and the Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering in 2068 B.S. The campus will once more accept applications for bachelor's degrees in architecture and master's degrees in seismic engineering in 2071, 2072, and 2073 B.S., respectively.
