The first and only institution in Nepal dedicated to forestry and natural resource management education and training is the Institute of Forestry, Hetauda Campus (IOF-HC). establishing itself as the Nepal Forestry Institute in 1947 under the Department of Forests at Singh Durbar, Kathmandu.
The IOF has a long history of excellence in access and quality, and it continues to do so today by offering graduate and undergraduate students special chances to change the country through forestry and natural resource management services that are socially and technically sound and competent.
Currently, IOF runs academic programs like the Technical Certificate in Forestry, the Bachelor of Science in Forestry, and the Master of Forest Science at two different campuses: one in Pokhara and the other in Hetauda. In addition to offering nine master's degree programs in various fields, IOF has expanded and now offers Ph.D. and M.Phil. programs in community forestry in Pokhara. In addition, IOF/TU and NORAGRIC of the Agricultural University of Norway (AUN) are currently working together to partially implement the Master of Science in Management of Natural Resources and Sustainable Agriculture (M.Sc. in MNRSA) program in Pokhara. Under the direction of the Dean of the Institute of Forestry, distinct Campus Chiefs oversee each of IOF's two campuses. Two assistant deans assist the dean in guiding IOF into the twenty-first century.
At IOF, research and teaching in the domains of forestry and related sciences preserve and enhance creative traditions through thoughtfully created curricula that meet the requirements and interests of the nation's civil society today.
