Bachelor of Information Management in Nepal

The Bachelor of Information Management (BIM) is a four-year undergraduate degree offered by Tribhuvan University’s Faculty of Management. It is a combined course in information technology and management. The BIM course structure is developed so that students can build information technology abilities while also understanding professional knowledge in policy making. Information management is the study of information technology and communication systems in business and government.

Objective of BIM

  • To train IT workers in using computers and computational approaches to create successful information systems that solve real-world challenges.
  • To help students improve their skills in object-oriented software design and data management systems.
  • To offer students with professional training in information technology and management.
  • To prepare students to pursue postgraduate studies in information management both inside and outside the country.

Eligibility

The candidates applying for BIM must have the following:

  1. Completed +2, securing a minimum C grade in all subjects.
  2. Appear and pass the entrance examination conducted by the management faculty at TU. 

Admission Criteria

 

Generally speaking, prospective applicants must take the Central Management Admission Test (CMAT), which is administered by Tribhuvan University's Faculty of Management. CMAT will consist of 100 objective questions, twenty-five in each segment, with a total weight of 100 marks.

  • General Awareness

To qualify for the interview, students must score at least 40 on the CMAT. Only short-listed candidates will be interviewed and accepted into the admissions process.
Admissions will be strictly based on the merit list. The merit list is prepared based on:

  • 60 marks on the CMAT Entrance examination
  • 30 marks of marks secured in percentage in plus two or equivalent
  • 10 marks Interview

Attendance requirement

BIM students must participate in at least 80% of each subject's theory and practical classes. Failure to meet this prerequisite will prohibit a student from taking the final examination.

Fee Structure for BIM in Nepal

The average cost of the Bachelor of Information Management curriculum is between NR. 55,500 and NR. 65,000 each semester.
The cost of BIM courses is greatly dependent on management and government quotas. Similarly, costs vary depending on 10+2 scores and entrance exams.
However, the typical fee for a four-year BIM study fluctuates between four and six lakhs, depending on the institute.

After completion of the BIM program, you can choose the specification you are interested in. BIM is an IT and Management-related course that is designed to meet the IT desire of the nation with managerial skills.
