As we know that we cannot live without our daily meals. We must eat food according to the condition of our physical and mental body. We need different kinds of foods containing different nutrients. Food should be consumed in the right time. We receive nutrients from the food. If a person consumes more or less than the body requirement. It may be harmful to him. Nutrition is the process of taking in food and using it for growth, metabolism, and repair.The process of nutrition includes consumption of food, its digestion, assimilation of the nutrients. Similarly, their utilization for the maintenance of the body.

Food provides different nutrients to the human beings. Some nutrients provide energy. Nutrition is essential for growth and maintenance of the body. They are the chemical substances found in our food. Nutrients provide us energy, build our body, provide warmth and support, regulate body systems and protect us from infections. The food nutrients function differently after they are absorbed by our body.

Nutrients

The Chemical substances and essential materials found in our food are called Nutrients. It has the unique functions in our body. A single food does not supply all the nutrients. A person should eat different types of food to get Nutrients. The five vital food nutrients required by our body are Carbohydrates, protein, fat, minerals and vitamins. Foods are gained by plant source or the animal source. The Knowledge of food and nutrition is essential for the sound health of an individual. Foods supply the body with elements that are necessary for growth and development. The food nutrients can be divided into three broad categories listed below:

Importance of Nutrition are as follows:

People eat food to live. We cannot do our daily activities if we don't eat food for a long time. We can easily catch by infections and become sick if we don't eat healthy food in proper order. Here are some of the importance of nutrition listed below:

a. Nutrition helps in replacing the worn out tissues and maintain growth and development by generating new tissues and cells.

b. It helps in maintaining hormonal balance in the body and helps in regulating the body systems.

c. It helps to receive energy for doing different activities.

d. Nutrition helps to develop the immunity power of the body. It prevents against harmful germs and save us from infections.

e. It develops a good presence of mind and helps in mental development.

Balanced Diet and Importance:

A healthy, balanced diet is an important part of maintaining good health. The appropriate amount of carbohydrates, proteins, fats vitamins, minerals, and water are needed for the proper balanced diet. The balanced diet is the combination of all essential nutrients in the proper amount. A balanced diet provides all essential nutrients in proper quantities .

It helps in the functioning of various parts of the body. So, we must take the food according to the requirement of our body. We may suffer from protein-energy malnutrition if we don't eat carbohydrates and protein. Similarly, we suffer from specific nutritional deficiency like night blindness, rickets, goiter etc, if we don't consume vitamins and minerals.

Our organs and tissues need proper nutrition to work effectively, So proper diet is very important for us. Without good nutrition, our body has the maximum chance to get diseases, infection, fatigue, and poor performance. Children with a poor diet have the risk of growth and developmental problems. They also have poor academic performance. A balanced diet has the composition of all the vital food nutrients required by the body. So, balanced diet is important for our overall physical, mental and social health.

Information on Junk Food:

The food that is high in calories but low in nutritional content is known as Junk food. Junk foods are not good for our health because it contains high amounts of fat or sugar. Junk foods contain harmful preservatives, non-edible colors, tasting powder, harmful chemicals, etc. People eat junk food because they are tasty, but those foods are not proven to be healthy. Children can easily attract by the advertisements, taste, and colorful packets. The producer of Junk food attracts people by adopting tactful schemes. People should be aware of such junk foods and save our valuable health and money.

Junk foods are found low in station value, people don't tend to feel as full when they eat them which can lead to overeating. Similarly, junk food tends to replace the nutritious foods.Most "junk food" falls into the categories of either "snack food" or "fast food." People eat Noodles, biscuits, chips, cheese balls, bakery bread, cake, pizza, packed fruit juice, soft drinks as lunch and breakfast.

Although the junk food is harmful to health, people use them because they are easy to prepare and good to taste. People get a good taste of such foods but they do not get vitamins. Prolonged use of junk food has a dangerous effect on our brain. Junk food contains an unnecessary and excessive amount of sugar, salt, and spice which lead to diseases like diabetes, blood pressure, and nervous disorders.
