Introduction and Importance of Professional Training in Grade-7, Reference Note

Technical Profession is a highly skill-based profession in which a practical knowledge is required. It helps people to be self-dependent. In the context of Nepal, the basic technical professions are the professions related to education, health, infrastructures development and production sectors.

 

Importance

The technical profession has always been important as it has replaced the society from nomadic to the modern era. It has widened the limit of the human innovation, development, and creativity. The facilities of medicines, surgical works, communication, computer technology, transportation system, etc are the result of technical professions. Life has become easier due to them. There is a high demand for technical professionals in our country both in public and private sectors.

Different Areas of Technical Professions and their Requirements

To become a technical professional is a difficult task. In order to become a technical professional, one should have to attain a certain level of education, technical skills, work experience as well as acceptance from the government or government-recognized bodies.
The following are some of the professional areas:

Health and Medical Profession

The examples of health and the medical professions are Auxiliary Nurse, Health Assistant, Auxiliary Health Worker, Medical Doctor etc. Certain requisites should be met to study these courses. Only after completing and passing the exam of the Nepal Medical Council, they are registered as doctors.

Engineering Profession

The examples of engineering profession are engineering in civil, mechanical, computer, electronics, and communication, biomedical, industrial, electrical etc. Architects, cartographers, surveyors, designers etc. also fall into this category. One should have I.Sc. or +2 in science with mathematics as a major subject and secure good marks in total aggregate as well as in entrance exam in order to get admission in engineering faculty.

Scientists

Physicist, chemist, microbiologist, geologist, botanist, agriculturalist, etc. are some of the examples of scientists. Their minimum qualification is science background and Master's degree in Physics, Chemistry, Biology etc. and also a few years of professional experience.

Agriculture and Forestry Professionals

The examples of agriculture and forestry professionals are Junior Technical Assistant (JTA), Junior Technician (JT), Forester, Ranger, Horticulturist, District Forest Officer (DFO) etc. The requirements for this profession are the background of science and completion of certain training or academic course on agriculture or forestry science.

Finance Experts

The examples of finance experts are Chartered Accountant (CA), investment and finance analyst, accountant, auditors etc. It requires accounting background. One has to complete basic education in management stream like B.B.S. (Bachelor in Business Studies), CA course, B.B.A. (Bachelor in Business Administration) etc.

Tourism Professions

The basic professions in the tourism industry are Tourist Guide, Cook, Waiter, Trekking Guide etc. However, there are certain courses such as Bachelor in Hotel Management, which makes one a Professional Manager, Deck Officer, cook, waiter etc. One has to be a graduate (Minimum Bachelor's Degree holder) to become a tourist guide. He/she has to attend training provided by the government and give a written examination as well as an interview.

Teaching Professions

The examples of the teaching profession are School Teacher, Lecturer, Professor etc. One has to attain a certain level of academic qualification in the area of expertise. For the school teachers, graduation in education is preferred and they also need to pass certain license examination.

Government Officials

Secretary, Joint Secretary, Under Secretary and Section Officer are the professionals of gazetted class whereas Nayab Subba, Kharidar, Office Assistant etc. are the professionals of non-gazetted class. Qualification requirement to become a gazetted officer is Bachelor Degree in any discipline and for non-gazetted posts is at least intermediate or SLC depending on the level.
