Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for admission into the M.Sc. program in Material Science, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science (4-year program), or

• Hold an M.Sc. degree in Science from a 3-year bachelor’s program.

• Have undergraduate academic performance significantly above average and meet the minimum grade criteria set by the IOE Faculty Board.

• Obtain a minimum required score in the entrance examination conducted by the IOE Entrance Board, or as recommended by the special entrance committee for foreign applicants.

Note: Degrees obtained from institutions other than Tribhuvan University (TU) will be considered equivalent only if recognized by TU as being comparable in discipline and level.

Admission Process

Candidates interested in enrolling in the M.Sc. program must apply online by the deadline announced by the Entrance Exam Board.

Steps for Application Submission:

1. Payment of Application Fee:
   Deposit the required application fee in the designated account number mentioned in the official notice. Obtain a voucher after payment, ensuring to fill in the applicant’s name and date of birth correctly. The voucher number must be entered in the online application form.

2. Selection of Entrance Stream:
   Choose the appropriate entrance stream as applicable.

3. Completion of Application Form:
   Fill in all the required fields carefully without skipping any section.

4. Upload Documents:
   Upload a recent color photograph (according to the prescribed specifications) along with one valid identification document such as:

   • Citizenship Certificate

   • Passport

   • Admit Card of the last examination

Corrections in Submitted Applications:
If changes are needed in the submitted application, an additional fee must be paid:

• For editing six or fewer normal text fields, a small fee applies.

• For corrections involving name, photograph, or ID document, a higher fee applies and a formal request letter must be submitted along with the payment voucher at ICTC.

Seat and Quota Distribution for M.Sc. Program

Additional Details:

• For the IOE Reserved Quota, permanent IOE faculty are given priority. If none apply, contract faculty with 5+ years of service will be considered. If no applicants are available in this quota, the seat will be added to the Full Fee category.

• One seat each in the Regular Merit and Full Fee categories is reserved specifically for female candidates.

• One-quarter of the Sponsored quota is reserved for foreign students.

• Sponsored quota priority:

  1. Candidates from government offices and government-owned organizations/companies.

  2. Candidates from other organizations.

• If there are no applicants for Sponsored or Foreign categories, those seats will be allocated to the Full Fee category
