Institute of Engineering (IOE) Pulchowk Campus admits 20 students annually to the Master of Science (M.Sc) program in Environmental Engineering.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for admission to this Master’s program, candidates must have a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Civil or Agriculture Engineering or an equivalent qualification.

Applicants should have undergraduate grades well above average and meet the minimum criteria set by the IOE Faculty Board. Additionally, they must achieve the required minimum score in the entrance exam conducted by the IOE Entrance Board (or as recommended by the special entrance committee for foreign students).

Note: Equivalence means having a similar degree from institutions other than Tribhuvan University, which is recognized by TU as equivalent to TU’s degree in the same field.

Admission Procedure

Candidates interested in applying for the M.Sc. program must complete and submit the online application form within the deadline set by the Entrance Exam Board. Application forms are available on the IOE entrance websites.

Steps to apply include:

  1. Pay the required application fee for the entrance exam into the designated bank account using a voucher that includes the applicant’s name and date of birth. The voucher number must be entered in the online application form.

  2. Select the appropriate entrance stream while filling out the application.

  3. Complete all required fields on the form without skipping any sections.

  4. Upload a recent color photograph following the prescribed specifications, along with one valid identification document such as a citizenship certificate, passport, or last exam admit card.

If changes are needed after submitting the application, candidates must pay an additional fee to edit up to six text fields. Corrections involving name, photo, or ID documents require a higher fee, submission of a formal request letter, and the payment voucher at ICTC.

Seat and Quota Distribution

  • Total seats: 20

  • Regular Merit: 5

  • IOE Reserved: 1

  • Full Fee: 6

  • Sponsored: 8

Each program reserves one seat for female candidates in the regular category and one seat in the full fee category. Additionally, one seat is reserved for IOE faculty members. Priority for the IOE Reserved Quota is given first to permanent IOE faculty, then to contract faculty with at least five years of service. If no applicants qualify under this quota, the seat is reallocated to the Full Fee category.

One-quarter of the sponsored seats are reserved for foreign students.

Priority for Sponsored Quota

  1. Candidates from government offices and government-owned organizations or companies

  2. Candidates from other organizations

If there are no applications in the sponsored or foreign categories, those seats will be converted to the full fee category.
