Tribhuvan University Institute of Medicine (IOM), Maharajgunj Campus, and its affiliated colleges.
Program Overview:
The Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Clinical Pharmacology is a full-time postgraduate medical program aimed at producing skilled clinical pharmacologists equipped to play a critical role in drug development, rational use of medicines, pharmacovigilance, and therapeutic drug monitoring. The program is conducted under the Institute of Medicine and follows strict academic and administrative regulations.
Salient Features:
This is a residential program requiring full-time commitment.
Students must strictly follow the rules and regulations set by the Institute of Medicine (IOM).
Students enrolled in hospital-based clinical or para-clinical programs (MD/MS, MDS, MD Ayurveda) are eligible for two weeks of leave annually.
Leave/vacation in other PG programs will be governed by Tribhuvan University’s regulations.
Private practice is strictly prohibited during the study period.
A three-month community-based teaching and learning module is mandatory for all clinical programs, as per Nepal Medical Council (NMC) guidelines.
Nepalese candidates must serve one year in government-assigned service upon course completion, following directives from the Ministry of Health and Population.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for admission, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Hold an MBBS or equivalent degree from an institution recognized by the Government of Nepal.
Be registered with the Nepal Medical Council.
For foreign applicants, registration with the relevant medical council of their home country is mandatory.
Must have one year of clinical experience (Not applicable for MDGP and MD/MS in Basic Medical Sciences).
Secure a minimum of 50% (pass marks) in the Medical Education Commission (MEC) Entrance Examination.

Duration: 3 hours (one-time toilet break allowed after the first hour)

Admission Process:
All applicants (Nepalese and foreign) must appear for the common entrance examination conducted by the Medical Education Commission (MEC).
Separate merit lists will be published for Nepalese and foreign candidates.
A minimum of 50% in the entrance exam is mandatory for inclusion in the merit list.
Admission is granted based on merit through open house counseling, wherever applicable.
