MD Ayurveda (Kaya Chikitsa) at Ayurveda Campus, Kirtipur

The MD in Ayurveda (Kaya Chikitsa) is a three-year postgraduate program offered at the Ayurveda Campus, Kirtipur. This advanced course focuses on Kaya Chikitsa, which is a major branch of Ayurveda that addresses both physical and psychological illnesses such as fever, Rakta-pitta (bleeding disorders), Shotha (inflammation/swelling), Prameha (diabetes and urinary disorders), among others.

The department provides both undergraduate and postgraduate education, integrating theoretical learning, hands-on practicals, and research-based training. Treatments are based on Ayurvedic principles, including therapies like Panchakarma (detoxification), Rasayana (rejuvenation), and Vajikarana (aphrodisiac therapy).

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for admission into the program, candidates must fulfill the following conditions:

  • Hold a BAMS degree (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

  • Be registered with the Nepal Ayurveda Council.

  • For foreign candidates: Must be registered with the relevant medical council in their home country.

  • Must have at least one year of work experience in an institution recognized by the government.

  • Must secure a minimum of 50% marks in the entrance examination conducted by the Medical Education Commission to qualify for the merit list.

Entrance Exam Format

  • Type of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Single Best Answer

  • Total Number of Questions: 200

  • Duration: 3 hours (including one voluntary toilet break)

  • Question Distribution by Cognitive Level:

    • Recall – 30%

    • Understanding – 50%

    • Application – 20%

  • Answer Options: A, B, C, D
