Overview

The Faculty of Law offers two-year Master of Law program from Tribhuvan University at their Colleges in Nepal. This program aims to prepare legal professionals and scholars who can work in law firms, consultancies, education, and public service fields. It allows improving analytical reasoning and critical judgement skills, communication and research skills, problem identifying and real case examples in the scope of studies. It allows specializations in main branches such as constitutional law, criminal law, corporate law, international law, and environmental law. It also will allow to protect rights of refugees and minors.

Objectives of Master of Laws

The major objectives of a Master of Law program(LLM) are:

  1. To produce graduates who have the ability to independently learn, analyze, and conduct research on various legal topics.

  2. To generate graduates who have proficiency and knowledge to advocate at the international level.

  3. To develop professionals specializing in business and corporate law.

  4. To produce legal professionals with strong morals, ethics, and values, enabling them to impart positive messages in society, the community, and the country.

Admission Requirements in Master of Laws

Eligibility Criteria for Admission:

  1. Interested candidates must have passed a Bachelor's in Law from a board/college or university recognized by Tribhuvan University(TU).

  2. A total of 14 seats are reserved in this program for different categories, including 3 seats for women, 3 seats for indigenous nationalities, 2 seats for Madhesi, 1 seat for Dalit, 1 seat for differently-abled candidates, 3 seats for foreign nationals, and 1 seat for backward areas.

  3. Candidates willing to pursue Masters of Law degree offered by Tribhuvan University must undergo an entrance exam, except for foreign nationals.

Entrance Exam for Master of Law Degree:

  1. The language of the entrance exam is optional, allowing candidates to choose between English and Nepali.

  2. The exam is worth 100 marks, with a total time of 3 hours.

  3. Out of the total marks of 100, 50 marks are allocated for objective questions, with a time limit of 50 minutes.

  4. Out of the total marks of 100, 50 marks are allocated for subjective questions, with a time limit of 2 hours and 10 minutes. (Long answer question: 1*20, short question: 2*10, short notes: 2*5, time: 2 hours and 10 minutes).

  5. The merit list is published based on the marks obtained in the entrance exam.

Fee Structure

Rs 150000 to Rs 220000: Total cost of the LLM program of Tribhuvan University at colleges in Nepal.
