Kathmandu University School of Education (KUSOED) offers high-quality teacher education programs with a holistic approach to developing competent teachers, teacher educators, and educational leaders who can contribute to meaningful and life-affirming pedagogical processes. The shift in the educational processes is needed for developing skilled and visionary educational professionals.
Program Objectives
The one-year M.Ed. program prepares education professionals—such as trainers, curriculum developers, and school leaders—equipped to advance basic education through innovative, context-based approaches. It integrates cognitive and affective learning to develop skilled educators.
Graduates will be able to:
Design interdisciplinary STEAM curricula.
Understand and conduct research in STEAM education.
Develop professional training for teachers.
Use ICT tools to enhance learning.
Apply innovative methods like design thinking.
Plan, teach, and evaluate STEAM-based education.
Lead resource development and educational transformation.
Foster creativity and innovation as instructional leaders.
Create STEAM-aligned teaching materials.
Duration of the program
The program is structured as a one-year (two semesters) program for regular students. In the case of part-time students, they are required to complete the program in two years.
Eligibility Requirements
The candidates having a Master's degree in any discipline from a university or an institution recognized by Kathmandu University are eligible to apply in the M Ed (One Year) Program in STEAM Education.
Structure of the program
The program is for two semesters. There are nine courses for 27 credits comprising two Core Courses (6 credits), five Professional Courses (15 credits) and two Practical Courses (6 Credits). Apart from these courses, non-credit workshops shall be offered. The weightage of such workshop shall be 30 hours per semester.
