The first Agriculture College under the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science is located on Rampur Campus, a constituent campus of Tribhuvan University. It was founded in Jagadamba Bhawan in Pulchowk, Laltipur, in the year 1972. It was moved to Rampur, Chitwan, in 1974 with 110 hectares of land and few buildings, and by 1978, the amount of land had increased to 235 ha. The goal of the Rampur Campus is to promote research, development, and the spread of agricultural technology while also developing skilled labor in agriculture and related fields.
When I.Sc. Ag, I.Sc., and 10+2 (Science) were the major programs at the Rampur Campus, the B.Sc. Ag (8-semester program) and B.V. Sc. and A.H. (10-semester program) followed. Admission to both programs was discontinued with the founding of the Agriculture and Forestry University, and the B.V.Sc. and A.H. programs were moved to the Paklihawa Campus in Paklihawa, Rupandehi (a Constituent Campus of T.U. under IAAS). In addition to programs being stopped, all physical infrastructure and human resources were transferred to AFU without using an amalgamation process. There was a parallel existence of T.U. and A.F.U. as a result of the government's act of amalgamation, which left certain faculty and staff in T.U., which led to a difficult situation in the Rampur area.
A monitoring committee led by Dr. Geeta Bhakta Joshi, a former member of the National Planning Commission, was established by the government after five years, and it reported the necessity of the T.U. program's presence in both Chitwan and Hetauda. This research served as the foundation for the government's decision to build the Rampur Campus in eastern Chitwan, and the Tribhuvan University Executive Council designated the Kankali Community Forest Area for the Rampur Campus, which is located in Khairahani-04, Chitwan, during one of its regular meetings. In light of this, IAAS issued a call for admission for a fresh cohort, and Khairahani Municipality offered some physical infrastructure and financial support for a recent academic program. This agriculture institute needs land, physical infrastructure, people resources, and funding for its expansion.
