The Patan Academy of Health Sciences is a public, non-profit tertiary academic institution dedicated to improving rural health in Nepal via the training of health workers.

PAHS's mission is for its graduates to not only offer critical medical care in rural Nepal but also to become healthcare policy experts dedicated to improving the health of Nepal's distant and impoverished communities. Furthermore, PAHS will serve as an example of creative medical education in a developing country that can be duplicated elsewhere.

PAHS is located in Patan, Nepal, near the capital city of Kathmandu. Patan facility, the academy's primary teaching facility, serves as PAHS' headquarters.

Mission

PAHS is dedicated to sustained improvement of the Health of the people in Nepal, especially those who are poor and living in rural areas, through innovation, equity, excellence, and love in education, service, and research.

Goals

• Maintain and improve the quality of present health services provided by PAHS-related hospitals, while continuing the legacy of prioritizing the needs of the poor and disadvantaged.
• Conduct appropriate clinical, public health, and biomedical research.
• Collaborate with the national health system (NHS) to improve the health status of Nepal's people, and actively encourage the national government to develop appropriate health policies, programs, and systems to improve the health of the rural poor.
