ABOUT CAMPUS

Despite chemistry's foundational role in science and its link to national progress (particularly the chemical industry in the 20th century), formal Chemistry education in Nepal is relatively young. It began in 1921 with an Intermediate Science program at Tri-Chandra College, evolving into a Bachelor of Science degree by 1947.

Tribhuvan University, established in 1959, marked a turning point. The first Master's program in Chemistry, focusing on Organic Chemistry, launched in 1965 at Tri-Chandra College. This also paved the way for research initiatives in the field. The dedicated Department of Chemistry within the university complex was inaugurated in 1966, followed by Master's programs in Inorganic and Physical Chemistry in 1966 and 1967, respectively.

The passage goes on to detail the department's leadership and program growth. You can include this information if you need a more comprehensive history.

Message From Head of the Department.

Central Department of Chemistry, Tribhuvan University was founded in 1965. It has been providing quality education in chemistry from its very inception. In the last 46 years, the department has made a long journey full of many ups and downs. Despite all the difficulties, it is a matter of pride that the department has been able to produce internationally saleable students. Our faculty members have forged joint research and academic collaborations with several research institutes abroad. We have an excellent team of highly qualified internationally competent manpower in various disciplines of Chemistry. Although the resources available to keep the regular activities of the department are limited, we have maintained the academic excellence of our graduates keeping them educated with recent advances on emerging new areas of chemical sciences. We have been utilizing the available facilities and resources for the maximum upliftment of the department; in particular by promoting interdisciplinary Ph.D. research in various fields of Chemistry. I would like to welcome you all to make our academic effort a success!
